The reading train to Hogwarts

Hello everyone!

This is my first blog ever!! I am going to talk about my own reading experience. Have fun reading!

To be honest I never really liked reading, for me it was more an obligation at school. When I went to high school I needed to read more books but instead of reading the books, I watched the movies or read some online summaries. It is safe to say that reading was not quite stimulated by the teachers either. As our teacher just let us watch the movies instead of reading the books with us. Maybe because of this I like especially books that are turned into movies as you have a specific picture in your mind about all the characters especially about the way they look. When reading a book first you visualize the characters in your own way and then when seeing the movie you can compare those to your own imagination.

This dislike changed though when I first discovered the Harry Potter books when I was about 13 years old. Instantly I loved them and I couldn’t wait until the next book came out. I have all read them several times, and I could read them over and over again. My favourite book is ‘’Harry Potter and the goblet of fire’’, because there is a lot happening in the book and there are a lot of new characters introduced. After the Harry Potter books I found reading a bit more interesting and I started reading more in my free time. When I started studying Spanish I learned more about the importance of reading, especially when learning a new language. I needed to read all the classics like ‘’Don Quijote’’, ‘’Cien años de soledad’’ and ‘’Lazarillo de Tormes’’. Reading really helps you to understand more about the language, the culture, it is such a big part of the history and how the language developed.
